Narcotics Detector Handler Training	5-week course with pre-trained suitable canine. Practical exercises, lecture material, 2 written examinations and certification upon completion.
Explosive Detector Handler Training	6-week course with pre-trained suitable canine. Practical exercises, lecture material, 2 written examinations and certification upon completion.
Accelerant Detector Handler Training	5-week course with pre-trained suitable canine. Practical exercises, lecture material, 2 written examinations and certification upon completion. Geared towards Firefighters and Arson Investigators.
Dual Purpose Handler Training	8-week course with pre-trained suitable canine. Practical exercises, lecture material, 4 written examinations and certification upon completion.
Patrol Handler Training	7-week course with pre-trained suitable canine. Practical exercises, lecture material, 2 written examinations and certification upon completion.
Instructor Course	10-week course in all aspects of police K-9 training. Seven written examinations, field exercises with numerous canines in various stages of training, extensive agitator training, lecture material, and student teaching. Geared towards a multi-canine department.

Method of Training

The method of training that is taught at Central Alabama Police Canine Training Center was developed by the German Police School - Landespolizeischule fur Diensthundfuhrer, 1981. The Director of PSP America, Ted Sexton, brought the method we use today into the United States after he attended the training course in Stuckenbrok, Germany. In 1985, PSP America became ACLEOTC and a staff of six police canine officers and trainers from throughout the United States were hired by ACLEOTC to train canines and handlers for the US Department of State's Anti Terrorist Assistance Program. During this time period, the method of training developed and taught through this facility was introduced to domestic and international law enforcement agencies through handler and instructor courses. Upon completion of the State Department in the early 1990's, ACLEOTC was sold to an outside civilian buyer.
