Method of
Training
The method of
training that is taught at Central Alabama
Police Canine Training Center was developed by
the German Police School - Landespolizeischule
fur Diensthundfuhrer, 1981. The Director of PSP
America, Ted Sexton, brought the method we use
today into the United States after he attended
the training course in Stuckenbrok, Germany. In
1985, PSP America became ACLEOTC and a staff of
six police canine officers and trainers from
throughout the United States were hired by
ACLEOTC to train canines and handlers for the US
Department of State's Anti Terrorist Assistance
Program. During this time period, the method of
training developed and taught through this
facility was introduced to domestic and
international law enforcement agencies through
handler and instructor courses. Upon completion
of the State Department in the early 1990's,
ACLEOTC was sold to an outside civilian buyer.
